Why "Battery Sharing"

The title of this blog come from the most popular "car sharing" (a good solution for people who seldom need to use a car)

I've begun a blog in Italian about the same matter, but is more animated a discussion on Usenet (see links section).

Electric vehicles don’t have a big operating range and they need many hours to charge:

So why so not replace the battery with one already charged ?

A this point I need to use a free translaction (from Italian) of a reply to my posts:

The idea is not new but good and it is valid in order to resolve more than problem of the time of recharges.

The idea that has been proposed in passed (before Internet time, sorry no link) it outlined the following scene:

a) Normalization of packages modular, batteries independent from brand, every equipped of a "built-in meter" of distributed energy. Every vehicle can mount one of more.

b) the recharge-maintenance-substitution service is managed in exclusive right from appropriate societies. These societies operate, in competition between them

c) The substitution of batteries needs few seconds (o some minute) in predisposed vehicles; customer's satisfaction is based on the energy effectively used.
